The Enniskillen Drama Festival recently brought four exciting nights of live theatre to the Ardhowen Theatre with it’s inaugural ‘One Act’ festival, featuring 11 short plays performed by local drama groups. The festival, which ran over four nights, celebrated community talent and showcased a diverse array of performances that highlighted the artistic spirit of Fermanagh.
This year, local grant-making charity Fermanagh Trust, proudly supported the event by introducing a special Bursary Award for the best performer of the festival. The winner, Christine Maher Irvine for her outstanding acting and directing in Bed Among the Lentils received a bursary award which they will use to attend the prestigious Drama League of Ireland Summer School in Limerick, helping them to refine their skills, gain professional experience, and further their passion for theatre.

Through this award, Fermanagh Trust aimed to encourage local community activity and inspire people of all ages to get involved in acting. The Trust’s support of the Enniskillen Drama Festival is part of its broader commitment to fostering local initiatives and empowering individuals to pursue their creative aspirations.
Lauri McCusker, Director of Fermanagh Trust congratulated the Enniskillen Drama Festival on its success, saying, “We were thrilled to support the ‘One Act’ festival and to celebrate the incredible talent within our community. The dedication of these local drama groups showcased the vibrant cultural scene in Fermanagh and we were delighted to offer this Bursary Award to help an outstanding performer take the next step in their acting journey. We look forward to seeing local talent shine on stage and to supporting more community-driven events in the future.”
