The Oisín McGrath Foundation has awarded bursaries to two talented local individuals; gymnast Cára McDonnell and boxer Kaci Crowly supporting them with their equipment and travel costs. The fund is open again and will accept applications from individuals or groups. Closing date for applications is 28th February 2020.
The Oisín McGrath Foundation was formed in memory of 13 year old Oisín McGrath from Belcoo and is inspired by Oisín’s life and formed both to keep his spirit alive and to inspire others through his memory, in particular youth sports development.
Administered by the Fermanagh Trust, the Oisín McGrath Foundation provides financial support to young people who demonstrate exceptional commitment and/ or ability to the world of sport but may be held back by their financial situation from pursing their goals.
Kaci Crolwy has had a number of successes in her boxing career to date including three national titles and Gold in the European Schoolgirl Championships. She is currently in training for her fourth National title, representing Ireland at the European Junior Championships in June 2020. All this is on the pathway to hopefully competing at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

As a member of Splitz Gymnastics Acrobatic Club in Enniskillen, Cára has been asked to compete in the Maia International Acro Cup in Portugal 2020. This is going to be an excellent opportunity for Cára to develop her potential in an international setting. She will be able to take the experience and skills developed back to other gymnasts in her local club.
Oisín’s mum Sharon McGrath commented “The Foundation brings opportunity to others alongside celebrating Oisín’s life and his love and commitment to sport. We are pleased to be able to make these grant awards to Cára and Kaci. Both girls are hugely talented and we wish them every success in their upcoming competitions. It is our hope that in the future we can support even more young people and groups, assisting them in their sports development in memory of Oisín.”
Applicants to the Oisín McGrath Foundation must be between 11 and 18 years of age and residents in Fermanagh or the surrounding area. For more information on the Foundation or to download an application form CLICK HERE
