The Fermanagh Recreational Trust, administered by the Fermanagh Trust, has a long history of supporting sporting talent in Fermanagh and investing in our young people.
Among those who have benefited are rowers Acorn Cassidy, Ross Corrigan, and Nathan Timoney, who received support for their training and travel expenses.
Acorn Cassidy, a promising rower from Fermanagh, has recently been selected to represent Great Britain in the Women’s Four event at the U19 World Rowing Championships in Canada, later this month.

Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney brought immense joy to our community with their impressive performance at the Paris Olympics. The Fermanagh duo advanced through the heats and secured a place in the highly competitive ‘A’ Final, building on their successful world championship bronze medal in 2023. Their efforts have laid a solid foundation for future success as they aim for the next Olympic Games.

The Fermanagh Recreational Trust is now accepting applications for funding. This Trust plays a significant role in the development of Fermanagh’s sporting talent, with a particular focus on youth development. Eligible individuals and sporting and arts-based organisations residing in Fermanagh are encouraged to apply before the deadline on 31st August 2024.
Speaking on the recent successes of these local athletes, James Cooper, Chair of the Fermanagh Recreational Trust remarked, “We are incredibly proud of Acorn, Ross, and Nathan for their outstanding achievements on the world stage. Their dedication and hard work are a testament to the potential that exists within our community. The Fermanagh Recreational Trust is committed to nurturing this talent by providing the necessary resources and support. We encourage other young people and organisations to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for funding to help realise their dreams.”
