The Fermanagh Recreational Trust has presented grant awards to four sports clubs and two local rowers. The fund administered by the Fermanagh Trust supports the organisation, development and funding of recreational activities and facilities in County Fermanagh with particular emphasis on young people and youth development.

County Fermanagh Super Cup Organisation will be sending two youth soccer teams at U15 and U16 age level to take part in the Super Cup NI tournament at the end of July. Their grant will go towards equipment and coaching costs as the teams prepare for this prestigious tournament. Enniskillen Royal Boat Club were awarded a grant to assist with purchase of new boats.
Fermanagh GAA will use their funding to develop a new gym facility. Enniskillen Rugby Football Club will use their grant award to upgrade and improve some of their facilities.

Also supported by the Fermanagh Recreational Trust were local rowers Ryan Ballantine and Zoe McCutcheon. The two have already have number of success at various tournaments and have been commended by their clubs for their talent and commitment. Ryan is aiming to compete at the U23 World Rowing Championships and Zoe is taking part in Irish Rowing Championships in July. They will use their grant awards for travel, entry fees, equipment and accommodation costs.

Presenting the awards, Pat Cassidy, Trustee of the Fermanagh Recreational Trust commented “We are delighted to award this support to some of our local sporting talent. Yet again we were so impressed by the passion and commitment of the young people and in particular the dedication of the volunteers and leaders of these organisations to create new opportunities and improve performance. Ryan and Zoe are two inspiring up and coming stars who deserve to be supported and recognised for their talent and drive. It is also great to see the highly regarded Fermanagh based organisations that we have supported this round developing new programmes and initiatives increasing levels of participation from young people and the wider community.”
